MEET THE CREW

Ryan Rush

A true north Florida Native, Ryan’s extreme passion and love for the ocean started at an early age. Spearfishing & surfing before he memorized his multiplication tables, Ryan learned his way around docks and boat ramps while other kids learned their way on the neighborhood playgrounds. Ryan grew up as a 2nd generation dive instructor utilizing freediving for hunting, underwater photography & reef research. After transitioning from Ocean Rescue Lifeguard for the city to assisting his father in instructing scuba diving for students, he came to the realization that he wanted to make his passion into a career. He pursed this dream and after much hard work, his father and him seized the opportunity to open up a family dive shop, The Dive Source, located in St. Augustine, Florida. Ryan now owns/runs SAVAGE DIVING & teaches Freediving, Spearfishing & Reef Research while running Spearfishing excursions throughout Florida.

Ryan is a Master Freedive Instructor, Emergency First Responder Instructor, Dive Master, USCG Captain, United States Lifeguard Association Lifetime Member, North Florida Reef Research Team Founder/President & Commercial Spearo.

He developed a love for spearfishing and has spent countless hours exploring the stunning underwater landscapes that Florida has to offer. Driven by his desire to live a life connected to the ocean, Robbie earned his Level 3 Master Freediving certification at Savage Diving. Sam Wardner

Samuel was born and raised in Central Florida. His sense of adventure, competition, and love of the outdoors helped him to excel as a competitive swimmer on youth swim teams in Brevard County as well as being a proficient water skier in his early years. Samuel’s natural ability led him to complete training and receive his Junior Open Water Diver Certification at the young age of 10 years old. He was also busy on the water fishing with his four brothers and grandfather, never tiring of the opportunity to be outdoors and especially in or on the water. Samuel turned his passion for fishing into a career and became a licensed commercial fisherman in 2020. Since then he has traveled extensively all over the state of Florida, coast to coast, including the Florida Keys to fish, dive, and spearfish both for pleasure and as a professional fisherman and first mate for private and commercial vessels. Samuel has vast experience free diving and spearfishing in Florida’s Intercostal Waterways as well as Open Water free diving and spearfishing offshore in Florida, the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, and in Costa Rica. Samuel also has many years of experience as a professional mechanic and regularly maintains his own private boat, fishing and diving gear, and equipment.
