Take your freediving and spearfishing to the elite level with our three‑day Level 3 Freedive + Bluewater Spearfishing™ Course. This PADI‑credited course combines the Master Freediver curriculum with our Blue Water Hunting™ program and is offered exclusively at Weeki Wachee, FL, giving you access to both offshore reefs and legendary Florida springs.
Who This Course Is For
- Certified Level 1 and Level 2 freedivers looking to refine skills, increase depth and hunt bigger game.
- Divers seeking to master Functional Residual Capacity (FRC) diving, variable weight techniques, mental preparation, visualisation and blue‑water hunting strategies.
- Freedivers aiming to break through equalisation plateaus and achieve deeper constant‑weight dives.
What You’ll Learn
- Advanced Theory & Nutrition: Through PADI eLearning and independent study, explore advanced breathing, relaxation, diet and mental techniques to prepare for deep dives and demanding hunts.
- Confined‑Water Mastery: Hone static and dynamic apnea (target: 3 min 30 s static, 70 m/230 ft dynamic) and refine rescue/buddy skills.
- Open‑Water & Depth Training: Practise mouthfill equalisation, FRC and variable weight dives. Work up to a 120 ft (36.6 m) constant‑weight freedive while learning to manage the residual volume plateau.
- Blue‑Water Hunting Skills: Learn offshore hunting strategies, gear rigging and big‑fish fighting techniques that will help you land trophy pelagics.
Course Structure & Schedule
- Prerequisites: Current Level 1 and Level 2 freediver certifications.
- Boat Fees: Additional; vary by dive site. Select a Spring‑Only option to avoid boat fees if you prefer training exclusively in freshwater.
- Training Sites: Offshore sessions launch from Weeki Wachee on Florida’s Gulf Coast, with backup training at local springs such as Hospital Hole (150‑ft sinkhole on the Weeki Wachee River), Buford Springs (80‑ft cavern popular with free divers) and Hudson Grotto (depths to ~145 ft with platforms at 25′, 60′ and 100′).
- Day 1: 9 AM–12 PM classroom review & confined‑water training; 2 PM–2:30 PM break; 3 PM–5 PM open‑water session.
- Day 2: 9 AM–4 PM open‑water sessions at a local spring.
- Day 3: 8 AM–4 PM offshore Blue‑Water Spearfishing excursion (weather permitting).
Courses run every week, year‑round at Savage Diving Academy in Weeki Wachee, Florida.
